Dorney Lake 1Km timetrial is GO!

Dorney Lake have agreed to host a private (MDCC members only) 1Km timetrial and 500 metre sprint event on Thursday 14th September at 6pm. As we need to hire the venue, the entry fee will be £5 (£3 for juniors) and is not covered by the Event Passport.

It will be held on the Long Island (a straight tarmac lane between the warm-up and competition rowing lanes) that is already marked out with 250 metre boards for their rowing events. Start at the north end, and finish at the Pavilion end.

    Local regulations
  • Max speed 10mph for cycling anywhere other than on the island.
  • The lake is used for providing drinking water, so no nipping behind the
    bushes.
  • If you ride there, then the easiest way is to turn right at the
entrance and loop round the north end of the lake.
  • If you drive there, then please use the car park at the south end of
the lake near the clubhouse, and then ride to the start.
  • There will be a marshall at the bridges to ensure no unwary pedestrian
    wanders on.
  • Central lane is for competitive runs, west lane (on the warm-up side) for cyclists returning to the start, east lane (on the main rowing lake side) for pedestrians & spectators.

The 1Km results will be used to determine the seeding for the 500m sprint. Time permitting, the fastest 8 TT riders will continue on to the head-to-head 500m sprint; with the 8th fastest against the fastest, 7th against 2nd, etc. in the quarters.

Trophy details to follow.
