May 2007 Race Update

This is the first of what I hope will be a regular update on our club’s racing activities and was compiled from information supplied by Danuta (many thanks) and from much trawling of the CTT website results section. It would help me to produce a more detailed update if members who race could email me with details of how they have done including full results sheets if available. You can mail me at drpaulr@tiscali.co.uk Alternatively you can give me a ring, my number is on the Contacts page.

In the Oxonian CC 25 held on the H25/17 on Sunday 22nd April Dave Marshall came 8th out of 52 finishers with a time of 54:57. Chris Stocks also rode the event and was placed 12th with a time of 56:22 (+10:08 on standard). Overall event winner was Nik Gardiner in 53:22

The following Saturday, 28th April saw six Maidenhead riders enter the Newbury CC 25 on the H25/1 and we were rewarded with a win as best team. John Woodburn was our highest placed rider, and our only rider to break the hour, in 14th place (out of 78 finishers) with a time of 57:52, his +24:38 winning the Vets on Standard prize.

Danuta Tinn was fastest woman in 27th place overall with a time of 1:00:49 (+10:18). Frank Pressling helped us to the team prize with a time of 1:01:53 (+15:18) giving him 34th place overall. Mark Brewer just missed his standard with a time of 1:09:05 (-00:03) achieving a placing of 68th. Unfortunately Chris & Linda Stocks made up two of the five DNF’s for the event.

Overall winner was Ben Instone (a3crg) with a time of 51:38 with Tim Bedingfield (awcycles.co.uk) second in 52:20

Moving on a week to the 6th May we had four entries in the Hillingdon CC 25 on the H25/2. Dave Marshall was highest placed Maidenhead rider in 4th place with a time of 54:27, which I believe is a PB for him. Danuta Tinn was 25th out of 50 finishers with a frustrating time of 1:00:01 (+11:06) and was fastest woman.

Frank Pressling was 35th in 1:02:27 (+14:44) with Mark Brewer in 48th place with 1:11:03 (-2:01)

Overall Winner was Steve Golla (High Wycombe CC) with a time of 53:08, closely followed by Tim Bedingfield (awcycles.co.uk) in 43:14

Finally, Mark Brewer was our only entry in the Farnborough & Camberley CC 25 on the 12th May on the H25/8, but unfortunately was a DNF.

An update on John Woodburn’s progress in the Rudy Project series will follow soon.
