British Cycling regional news

From Josie Heffernan:
# The final Central Cyclo-Cross League event is this Sunday in Luton, with a training session on Saturday for young people and novices from 1 to 3 pm on the race course. There are series awards to be presented to all categories including Go-Ride Community and School Clubs. Any club who wishes to promote an event in next season's series or knows of an interested sponsor please contact me.
# Clubs are reminded that they can send a representative to the Central Regional Board meetings. We are especially keen to see under 23s who are involved with club life. Next date is Friday 13 February at 7.30 pm at the Hemel Hempstead Clubroom near Kings Langley.
# There are limited places on an additional Level 2 coaching course at Hillingdon on 28 Feb, 1 Mar & 7 June. Please forward names to me in the first instance, asap. Level 1 and 2 courses can now be put on by request with a minimum 12 firm places, please enquire if appropriate.
# The next Activity Coach Award for Teachers (ACAT) will be in April. Please contact me for details if interested.
# Coaches living or coaching in Bucks, Berks and Oxon who fully complete their Level 2 this year will be eligible for a £200 bursary from Skills Active. This is a limited offer to those across the South East. The same applies to Level 3s at a higher amount. Similar Skills Active funding exists already for London coaches.
# The annual Go-Ride Conference will be held at the De Vere Hotel, Hunton Bridge near Watford on Sunday 5 April. Details will be sent to all registered clubs, including schools I believe, but others close to registration who wish to attend please contact me. It's usually a great opportunity to meet up and receive useful seminars or coaching sessions.
# Any clubs who are successful in their bids for funding please let me know details of amount and from where. This includes the Sport Unlimited funding available for coaching of young people. Applications can be made through your County Sports Partnership.
# Congratulations to Team Keyne on becoming an accredited Go-Ride club and very shortly Twickenham CC. Accredited clubs will soon benefit from having a Go-Race Competition kitbag in addition to their ongoing Go-Ride coats and free silver membership offered to key officials. The focus of our work programme for 2009-10 will be more entry level competition and more coaching linking schools to clubs.
# Congratulations also to the following volunteers who will receive their regional award at the British Cycling National Awards Presentation at the end of February in Bolton: Richard Noon, Icknield RC (Club Coach); Keith Wilmot, Willesden CC (Club Official); Dick Selley, North Bucks RC (Event Official); and Gavin Mitchell, Twickenham CC (Young Volunteer).
