Coaching course in Oxford

Subject: New Level 2 Coaching Course Places

Hi

Please circulate information on a new Level 2 Coaching Course to be held in Oxford on 3 & 4 November 06 and 3 February 07. There are only 8 places available so candidates are advised to put in an early application to guarantee a place. Details of funding to cover fees can be obtained from your local council Sports Development Officer or county council Coach Education Officer. They can also provide details of local Appointed Persons First Aid or First Aid for Sport courses. These are much cheaper than attending a St John's course.

On last week-end's Level 2 course in Milton Keynes just 7 out of 21 people were from Central Region clubs, and all but one of these were from current or prospective Go-Ride clubs. I think some clubs are lagging behind somewhat. Bear in mind that to take the future discipline specific units in Track, MTB etc, or the new Level 3 when available, that you need to have taken the basic L2 course.

Note there is unlikely to be another L2 course in Central Region until next September, but at least this provides plenty of time to submit an Awards for All bid to cover coaching fees, hire of coaching venues, coaches' fees, travel costs, necessary coaching equipment including bikes etc.

Please also remind teachers in your clubs that the one-day ACAT course to equip teachers to deliver school cycling clubs is being run this term - in Reading on 31 October and Welwyn on 7 November.

Full details of all coaching courses can be found on the British Cycling website.

Please feel free to contact me if I can help in any way.

Best wishes,

Josie
