MDCC Medium Gear '10' Championships

It's Greenland Again!
On a blustery evening on the Shurlock Row course last night Simon Greenland again captured one of the MDCC Championships that is dear to his heart. Riding his Rotrax track iron with 72" fixed he recorded 27:49, with no other Club member getting much within 2 minutes of him. Second was Nigel Shurben in 29:40 and a surprise third was new member Paul Todd in a very creditable 30:32 for his first ever time trial. Gurpal Panesar riding his newly restored retro Raleigh [see below] was fourth in 33:32.
Peter Weir preparing, as is Simon Greenland, for the British Circuit TT Championships in Bucks. on Sunday won the unrestricted event in 23:13. We were very pleased to welcome a large contingent of riders from Summit Mountain Bike Club. Attracting a great deal of attention was Summit's Richard Key on his restored 1928 machine and in period costume who produced a terrific 29:32 to show these old machines can still be ridden at a good speed without the need for carbon fibre. Gurpal has provided the photo of Richard below.

We were also pleased to welcome junior Ellie Quarrington riding her first event and coming home in a good time of 33:16.
