Timberlake Tankard Handicap '10'

Linda makes it a double first!
A wet evening meant a 10 minute delay to the start at yesterdays '10' and only 13 Club members competing for the 'Timberlake Tankard'. While most riders spent the time before the start sheltering from the downpour a very determined looking Linda Regel was to be seen putting in a good warm-up session in the rain.
This was to pay off handsomely, as she was the only rider to produce a personal best in the wet road conditions, the rain having stopped just before the start. Her pb of 29:35 was a especially sweet for her as Linda has worked hard all year with the aim of beating 'evens' and last night she finally achieved her aim. It also brought her the win in the 'Timberlake Tankard' handicap in 20:25 to add to her victory in the Ladies '25'
It was good to see the handicapping worked out well with close results for the other riders. Andrew Payne [23:50] and new member Mike Woods [26:35] tied for second place both with the h'cap time of 21:36

Wreath Laying at H. J. Timberlakes Grave
In the morning a group of the Club's elder statesmen, Bryan Simmonds, Malcolm Brewer and Peter Bell laid a wreath on Henry James Timberlake's grave at All Saints Cemetery to remember the 140th anniversary of his cycle race on the roads that we use for our tens to this day.
