Evening '10' Handicap Championships Decided

Paul Richardson Takes Club Handicap Champs
The last of our evening ten events took place yesterday evening at Shurlock Row on a pleasant evening but with a nagging wind that seemed not to give much help on any part of the course. Paul Richardson [144 points] , still not riding because of injuries received 2 weeks ago, maintained his season long lead to clinch the Championships with Vince Dewey [130 points] , his nearest challenger, also unable to ride because of work committments.

The lower orders were thoroughly shuffled over the last 3 weeks with Gurpal Panesar [97 points] shooting up the standings to grab 3rd place from Nigel Shurben. Simon Greenlands [94 points] fast rides moved him up into a medal winning fourth place pushing Nigel [91 points] down into an eventual 5th place.
One other late riser was fast improving 13 year old Robert Tinn [88 points] who jumped up to 6th place after 2 fast rides on the Shurlock Row course.

The final event was won by an ex-MDCC rider Pete Wager [ VC Meudon] in 22:56. We were pleased to have Pete and his brother John supporting our events over the year. First MDCC member home was Simon Greenland in 24:03.

To finish the season long series we had a drink together at the Beehive, White Waltham. Although it takes a lot of work to run this series the Committee were pleased to have more members volunteering to take on duties to help out with the running this year. It does seem worthwhile when we have so many riders from other clubs expressing their appreciation and thanks for our efforts.

Don't pack up yet for the season! We still have our Hill Climb Champs on October 11th.
