Latest news for Maidenhead & District Cycling Club

Wednesday, April 25, 2007

You can find some photos of last week's Thursday evening 10 here. My plan of parking the car at the finish, getting off number 1 and then grabbing my camera worked quite well. Maybe I'll try it this week again.

Weekend update

The Antelope RT TTT went well, with John Woodburn placed fourth overall, Shea Hindman & Chris Heape eighth and Danuta Tinn, Peter Weir & Andrew Payne 18th of 29. Full results on CTT site.

The Fifield 15 went smoothly with fine weather ensuring nearly a complete starting field (40 of 42 riders started). We missed out on the overall placings, but John Woodburn convincingly won the Vets while Danuta came second in the ladies event, 15 seconds behind Catherine Essex (Kings Lynn CC). Without the 30 mile event the day before, I'm sure that would have been reversed.
Although there wasn't a team prize, for interest the Club placed 1,2,4,5,6 with North Hampshire RC the only other club to enter sufficient riders to make up a team. Good to see the Club so active with 15 riders, plus all the marshals and support staff - a great effort from everyone involved. Thank you! Full results on the MDCC site.

Rider news

Congratulations to the riders who entered Good Friday's event. On a modified H10/2 course with 8 riders in a 105 strong field we won the Vets on Standard (John Woodburn), the Ladies (Danuta Tinn) and the team (Chris Stocks, Dave Marshall and Peter Weir). Results

We've also got several teams entered for this Saturday's Antelope RT 50K 3-up team time trial: Danuta Tinn/Peter Weir/Andrew Payne, Chris Heape/Shea Hindman/Stewart House (Arctic Shorter Rochford RT), and John Woodburn/Eddie Adkins (Bournemouth arrow CC)/Brian Phillips (East Grinstead CC). Startsheet

The full Startsheet PDF for this Sunday's Fifield 15 is now on the website, including a correction for rider 20 as William Girvan (not Gilding as sent in the emails).

Finally, don't forget this Sunday's Fifield 15 is the closing event for the Derek Addaway Memorial sporting courses comp. Barring punctures, Dave Marshall is favourite for the win after opening a good lead on the Hilly 30 with Chris Heape needing to cover the course 2.2 mph faster than Dave. However the third place is much more open, with Andrew Payne and Shea Hindman only .1 mph apart or about a minute over the 15 mile course.

LWDC Meeting

There was a London West committee meeting last night. Only items that will affect us are:
  • HCC234
We have been given permission to try moving the start closer to the end of Mare Lane so riders have more time to assess approaching traffic. The finish will be moved further west by a similar amount.
  • Clash of events on 24 June on HCC001
The preferred solution is for MDCC to still run our event, but start later, e.g. 10:00, after Hounslow's riders have all completed the course.
  • Treasurer is now Maggie Smith
  • Couple of address changes - check the LWDC site for latest contact details.
