Rebecca Romero

Rebecca turned up to a few of our Club evening 10s last year when she first started finding life after rowing. She's doing well, and has been selected for the World Track Championships. We wish her all the best this weekend.

Reading CC Sportifs

Reading CC are running two sportives on Sunday August 19th and would love support from our neighbouring clubs in the form of entrants. All proceeds are going to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance and the Cyclist's Defence Fund.
* Kennet Flyer 200km - the longest sportive in the UK this year we believe!
* Lambourn Chase 85km - shorter but just as challenging.

Both begin at Theale Green School just west of Reading.

Easter holiday activities for 8-16s

Josie Heffernan is organising some activities in the local area over the school holidays this Easter. There are track sessions at Palmer Park (through "Skoot") on 2 to 4 April plus an additional session at the Look Out on Friday 5 April (Mac) and 10 April (Ray). Details of all activities can be found on the BC website here.

It would be great if you could pass this on to both club and non-club members aged 8 to 16.

WLC 10 Report

The West London Combine held their opening 10 mile time-trial on the A4 course west of Maidenhead last Sunday (4th March). Maidenhead & District Cycling Club had 6 riders enter in the field of 72, but still performed well. The weather, which threatened to rain heavily that morning, held off until all the riders had completed the course and it turned out to be quite good conditions for this early in the year.
Peter Weir (who recently transferred to Maidenhead from Agiskoviner) placed second with a time of 23 minutes 31 seconds. After the race he reported, "My ride went well, I felt a bit uncomfortable though as it was my first race this season, but I guess that's to be expected and probably applied to most of the riders there."
Danuta Tinn, who'd been unsure of her form after tire problems in the run up to the event, convincingly won the ladies' event with a time of 25 minutes 6 seconds.
In the junior class, Andrew Richardson recorded a respectable time of 28.46.

Website Updated

Recovered the Club's files from the backup and have managed to get online again to update the website. There's still some offline files (like the membership list) to recover and sort through but at least it looks like the Club is actually active again in time for the new season. The Club email is receive only (some more fiddling required in some dialog box somewhere...) so I'll reply using my own webmail account for now.

I've moved from PC based to Mac based, so you'll probably notice some changes as the year goes by where content generated by applications I had on the PC have to be re-created on Mac compatible software.
