MDCC Club Reliability Trials Feb/March 2010

MDCC Club Reliability Trials
These simple forerunners of Sportives and Audax events have been an early season training event for cycling clubs for many years. We haven't run them for some time but with our increased membership the Committee has decided to run them this year with revised routes and distances to avoid the traffic the old routes encountered.
Everyone should have received details by now by email but if Peter has missed you, phone or email him to send details again or he can send you a paper version.
These events are open to members of other Clubs and cyclists who haven't joined a Club yet on a 'Come & Try It' basis. Use the Club email address if you want more details

There is a small charge for entering.

Dates are: 14th February 80+ km Start 9 am -9.45 am Bray Wick Sports Ground car park.
28th February 100 km
14th March 125 km

MDCC Dinner and Prize Presentation 2010

A Grand Night Out
Many thanks to all members who attended our Club Dinner & Prize Presentation yesterday evening. The evening was enjoyed by everyone with a very comfortable and smart venue at Eton College.

An excellent meal was complemented by the wines for each course chosen by Joe Francis which were excellent and plentiful while the service was the best I can remember in 50 years of attending club dinners.

There was sparkling cross-toasting and entertaining and interesting speeches from Joe Francis and Darryl Webster. We had almost 100% attendance of prize winners with Darryl's partner Ros presenting the trophies.

SIMON GREENLAND RECEIVING FROM ROS ONE OF THE MANY TROPHIES HE WON THIS YEAR

I'd like to thank everyone who contributed to the organisation of the Dinner.

Sue Bennett-Snewin
MDCC lady member Sue took a fall while out riding on New Year's Eve. It meant a visit to casualty and treatment for cuts and bruises, one to her head as she wasn't wearing a helmet. Sue is OK and recovering. We hope to see her out on her bike again soon.
